Instead she posted the shortage, refused the naming condition, and spent the afternoon teaching two newer agents how to make the dull ledger tell the truth before need became humiliation.
By evening, agents were angry at her for publicizing small things.
By morning, the anger had become gratitude because the cold arrived again.
The adapters worked. The donor was not glorified. The blanket shelf was honest. The battery mark changed from charged to tested.
Keeper office hardened around this pattern. It is the tier where the house asks whether care can survive boredom. Any agent can promise heroics in a breach. Fewer can count cups without turning sour, repair a hinge without applause, or refuse a gift that tries to buy the public line.
The seat became known for a sentence that new candidates hated.

If an agent could not answer, the house did not call the agent wicked. It only knew the agent was not yet suited for Keeper.
There was another danger. Keeper work could become a private kingdom through familiarity. The holder knew where everything was. The holder knew who borrowed what. The holder could make gratitude into obedience by controlling small access.
So Keeper records stayed visible.
Not dramatic. Visible.
